Bridal Press-On Nails
A salon appointment two days before a wedding is one more thing that can go wrong in a week that already has plenty. A set you have already tried on, that fits, and that you can put on yourself in five minutes on the morning is a different kind of decision.
There are fourteen sets in the bridal collection. Here is how to choose among them and when to do it.
Order twice, six weeks out
This is the whole trick and almost nobody does it.
Buy the set you want and a second, plainer one at the same time, six weeks before. Wear the plain one for a week — not as a rehearsal, just as a normal week. You will learn three things that no size chart can tell you: whether your size is right, whether the length gets in your way, and how long a set lasts on your hands specifically.
Then the bridal set goes on the morning of, with no unknowns. And you still own it, which matters because you will want it again for the other events.
The sets, by what they are for
If the dress is heavily worked — Bridal White Flower at 179 SAR. Soft ivory lined with pearls, wave texture, sculpted white flowers. It is the most traditional set here and it does not compete with an embroidered dress.
If you want gold rather than white — Golden Tulip at 179 SAR, with gold vines, silver leaves and raised white tulips, or Marble Accent at 149 SAR, which runs creamy marble through a tip outlined in gold.
If your hands will be photographed close up — Blush Floral Pearl at 179 SAR. Peach-pink V-french with raised white flowers, pearls and gold beads. Detail at this scale is what survives a macro lens.
If you are the guest, not the bride — Rose Gold Bloom at 129 SAR. Finished enough for the evening, quiet enough not to compete.
If you want short — Pink Ribbon Pearl at 129 SAR is the only short bridal set, a sheer blush with ribbon bows and pearl accents. Choose it if you will be holding things all evening.
Henna
Put the nails on after the henna, never before. Henna paste sits on the skin for hours and gets everywhere, and it will stain the edge of a light-coloured nail permanently — there is no removing it afterwards.
If the henna night and the wedding are separate events, that is two wears out of one set, which is what a reusable set is for. Take them off by soaking, keep them in the box in order, and put them back on for the second night.
The morning
Apply at least two hours before you need your hands in water, and preferably the night before. Adhesive reaches full strength over a couple of hours — a set applied twenty minutes before the car arrives is the set that lifts during the evening.
Clean, dry nails, no hand cream, a thin even layer of glue, and fifteen counted seconds of pressure per nail. Keep the tabs and the leftover glue in your bag. One nail coming loose is a thirty-second fix if you have the glue with you and an evening of holding your hand oddly if you do not.
