Size Guide

Measure the width of your nail bed at its widest point — not the length of the nail, and not the finger. That single measurement is what XS, S and M refer to, and it is what the dropdown on every product page is asking for. Work through the sections below in order and you will have your size before you reach the end of the page.

This is the most common misunderstanding and the most common reason a set has to be exchanged. XS, S and M describe how wide the nail is across the nail bed. They say nothing about how long the nail is.

Length is a separate choice, and it is written into every ANARA product name. A short square set and a long almond set can both be size S.

You need a ruler with millimetres, or a strip of paper and a ruler.

1. Look at your thumb nail. Measure straight across at the widest point, from one side of the nail bed to the other. Do not include the skin.
2. Write the number down in millimetres.
3. Repeat for the nail on your little finger. These two are the extremes; if both fall in the same size, the rest will follow.

If a paper strip is easier: lay it across the nail, mark both edges with a pen, then measure between the marks.

Every ANARA case is printed with four checkboxes — L, M, S and XS — and the size you ordered is the one marked. The nails inside are laid out five per hand and labelled L and R, so the set is ready to fit before any adhesive comes out.

Take the larger one. A nail that is slightly too wide can be filed down at the sides in a few seconds. A nail that is too narrow leaves a visible gap at the edges of the nail bed, catches on things, and lifts early — and there is nothing you can do to make it wider.

No, and most people are not one single size. Each ANARA set contains ten nails graded across the hand, so within one size the individual nails already differ. Lay the set out and match each nail to its finger before applying — that is the fitting step, and it is why the nails are labelled.

A small number of designs are produced in S and M without an XS. The size dropdown on each product page always shows exactly what that design is available in, so you will never be offered a size that is not made.

If you do not have a ruler to hand, lay a strip of paper across the widest part of the nail, mark both edges of the nail bed with a pen, then measure between the marks against any ruler you find later. A phone screen protector’s packaging, a bank card edge or a printed ruler all work — what matters is measuring the nail bed and not the skin either side of it.

Nobody is a single size across all ten fingers, which is why each set is graded: the thumb nail is the widest in the set and the little finger the narrowest, with the three in between stepped down in order. Choosing a size means choosing the grading that best matches your hand, not choosing one width repeated ten times.

File the sides, never the free edge, and always in one direction rather than back and forth — filing back and forth splits the coating at the edge. A few passes is usually enough. If a nail sits narrow, do not force it: a gap at the side of the nail bed catches on things and lifts within a day.
